The Aswan Governorate has implemented a series of administrative and developmental initiatives focused on land enforcement, infrastructure, and public services. Initial efforts involved the 30th wave of land enforcement, which resulted in the removal of 446 cases of encroachment on state-owned lands and 55 cases on agricultural lands. Concurrently, authorities focused on urban maintenance, cleanliness initiatives, and the inauguration of new schools in Al-Kobania. Recent developments in the Edfu region, overseen by Governor Amr Lashin, have prioritized healthcare and transportation. The Edfu Chest Hospital, a 26 million EGP project, is now 80% complete and is expected to be finished by the end of the year. Additionally, Lashin inspected the Nile Specialized Hospital, directing an increase in capacity by adding 48 beds to reach a total of 156 beds, while emphasizing the Universal Health Insurance system. Infrastructure projects continue with plans for a new alternative ring road in Edfu to alleviate traffic congestion. As part of the 2026/2027 investment plan, the Governor has also ordered the paving of approximately 6 kilometers of roads at a cost of 23.5 million EGP. ~~Further environmental~~ Environmental and utility efforts have ~~been launched~~ expanded under the ‘Aswan is more beautiful with its youth’ ~~initiative. This program has seen the planting of approximately~~ initiative, which aligns with a presidential goal to plant 100 million trees. Approximately 30,000 trees have been planted to increase green spaces and reduce pollution. Simultaneously, an urgent maintenance plan is underway to ~~clean sewage networks in Edfu. In coordination with the Drinking Water and Sanitation Company, workers are clearing~~ clear ‘hot spots’ in sewage lines across ~~various~~ Edfu villages and urban areas, ~~with work~~ scheduled ~~to continue~~ through early October. Newer initiatives focus on renewable energy and industrial expansion. Officials from the Saqr Factory met with the Governor to discuss maintenance protocols for solar power stations in villages such as Jerf Hussein and Kalabsha, which provide 122 kW of capacity for local services.
