Atari and Digital Eclipse release Toy Story game collections

Overview

Atari and Digital Eclipse have released two Toy Story video game collections to celebrate the franchise’s 30th anniversary. The collections, which launched on October 15, 2026, are available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. The first collection, ‘Toy Story: Retro Roundup!’, compiles eleven versions of six classic games released between 1995 and 2001. These include ‘Toy Story’ (SEGA Genesis, SNES, and Game Boy), ‘Toy Story 2’ (Game Boy Color and PlayStation), ‘Buzz Lightyear of Star Command’ (Game Boy Color and PlayStation), ‘Toy Story Racer’ (Game Boy Color and PlayStation), and ‘A Bug’s Life’ (Game Boy Color and PlayStation). Developed using a Digital Eclipse system, the collection allows players to view games as interactive videos, enabling them to watch gameplay or take control at any time. It features modern quality-of-life improvements such as rewind functions, save states, and cheat codes, alongside visual options like a CRT filter to simulate tube televisions, full screen, or letterboxed modes. A virtual museum provides bonus content, including documentaries, level design schematics, studio photographs, 3D packaging, scans of original manuals, and interviews with developers regarding the franchise’s English voice acting. The second release, ‘Toy Story 3 Complete Edition’, is a modernized remaster of the 2010 3D adventure game originally released on the Wii. This edition features enhanced graphics, higher resolution, and optimized performance. It includes both Story Mode and Toy Box Mode, offering local two-player co-op and previously exclusive content, such as the ability to play as Evil Emperor Zurg in the sandbox-style Toy Box Mode. The game follows a loose adaptation of the film’s plot through a narrative where characters like Hamm, Slinky Dog, and Rex retell the story.
