Athletic Club in Brazilian Serie B

Overview

Athletic Club is competing in the Brazilian Serie B, facing various opponents as the season progresses.

In late September, the club was scheduled to play Sport Recife at the Joaquim Portugal stadium. At that time, Athletic Club held 13th place with 42 points and was managing several injuries to players including Sidimar, Ronaldo Tavares, and Zeca.

By early October, Athletic Club moved into the 32nd round of the championship to face Goiás at the Estádio Hailé Pinheiro. Despite remaining at 42 points, the club's position shifted to 14th place, with both teams entering the fixture under pressure following recent losses.

In the match against Goiás, Athletic Club suffered a 2-1 defeat. After a scoreless first half, Felipe Clemente scored for Goiás in the 13th minute of the second half. João Miguel equalized for Athletic Club with a header from a corner kick, but Lucas Rodrigues scored for Goiás in the 46th minute to secure the win. Following the result, Athletic Club remains in 14th place with 42 points, while Goiás climbed to 11th place with 45 points.

This victory for Goiás brings them within seven points of the G-6, revitalizing their promotion hopes. Following the match, team captain and goalkeeper Tadeu expressed optimism, stating that the squad must “maintain confidence and fight for every remaining point.” Goiás is scheduled to face Operário-PR next.
