Spain is preparing for experiencing a significant shift in weather patterns as an Atlantic storm approaches the peninsula. A deep low-pressure system, which may undergo explosive cyclogenesis, is expected to bring successive fronts, increased wind, and a notable drop in temperatures. In Andalusia, temperatures are forecast to fall sharply from highs near 40 degrees Celsius to approximately 31 degrees in cities such as Seville and Córdoba. Rainfall probabilities vary by region, with Málaga seeing a 65% chance of precipitation. Other areas, including Lleida, Madrid, A Estrada, and Quintana de la Serena, are expected to experience varying levels of cloud cover, storms, and temperature fluctuations. As of mid-October, while some regions experience unseasonably warm temperatures—with Barcelona seeing highs between 25°C and 28°C—meteorologists warn this may be short-lived. A high-altitude cold air mass is expected to arrive early this weekend, potentially bringing autumn conditions and rain. In Mallorca, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) is monitoring a potential DANA (isolated depression in high levels) forming over France. This phenomenon could bring heavy rainfall and strong wind gusts to the island by Sunday, October 18. If this system develops, maximum temperatures in Mallorca are expected to drop by approximately 5°C, reaching between 19°C and 21°C. By late October, weather conditions have become varied across the country. The Valencian Community expects stable weather, though the interior of Castellón may face very strong wind gusts in high-altitude mountain passes. Northern regions, including western Galicia, the eastern Cantabrian area, the Pyrenees, and northeastern Catalonia, are forecast to receive rainfall, with light rain or snow possible above 1,600 meters in the Arán Valley. The Balearic Islands are seeing cloudy intervals and scattered showers, while the Canary Islands face cloudy skies and precipitation in northern mountainous areas and eastern La Palma.
