The National Hurricane Center reports that the system lost its closed circulation due to hostile environmental conditions, including significant wind shear and dry air. It is currently unlikely to regain tropical characteristics before reaching the Caribbean. While the storm no longer maintains tropical storm strength, its remnants continue to pose a weather threat. Indomet forecasts that the tropical wave could bring between 50 and 75 millimeters of rain to the country, with effects potentially lasting from Sunday through Tuesday. This precipitation is expected to affect various regions, including the northeast, southeast, and the Central Cordillera. Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and follow official updates as the system moves toward the region. Meteorologists note that while the system is weakening, the associated rainfall could trigger flash flooding, particularly in elevated areas. In Puerto Rico, these rains may provide relief to areas experiencing extreme drought, though the risk of flash flooding in higher terrain remains. resulting atmospheric instability drives multi-day precipitation.
