The Association of Legends of Atlético Madrid, now about 80 former players, has widened its aid for retirees. It offers financial assistance, a club‑appointed psychologist and runs reminiscence workshops in senior centres, while organising friendly matches such as a recent game against Real Sociedad. Upcoming programmes include anti‑gambling and social‑media risk workshops, communication courses and formal recognitions for historic figures. In June the club unveiled a revamped Paseo de Leyendas at the Metropolitano, voting in 17 icons – Torres, Aragonés, Futre, Simeone and others – with the Social Commission reserving a future plaque for Antoine Griezmann, who left as the all‑time leading scorer. Griezmann terminated his Atlético contract and signed a 2027‑28 deal with MLS side Orlando City. He made his MLS debut on 22 July 2026, scoring the opener in a 4‑0 win over the San Jose Earthquakes. Following strong performances in the Leagues Cup, Griezmann led Orlando to a 2-1 comeback victory against Real Salt Lake on 21 August 2026, moving the team into 9th in the Eastern Conference. On 5 September 2026, Orlando secured a 1-0 victory against San Diego FC at Inter&Co Stadium, driven by a 28th-minute goal from Griezmann. This marked his fifth goal in eight MLS matches. On 10 September 2026, Griezmann scored twice to lead Orlando to a 3-2 win over Atlanta United, marking his fourth consecutive game with a goal and extending the club’s unbeaten streak to four matches. On 13 September 2026, Orlando City defeated Toronto FC 3-0, with Griezmann scoring his eighth goal in 10 matches. This performance marked his fifth consecutive game with a goal and extended the club’s unbeaten streak to six matches, placing Orlando firmly in contention for the MLS postseason.
