In Italy, data from Apiafco indicates that atopic dermatitis affects approximately three million people, representing 8.1% of the adult population and 16.5% of children. The condition is a highly disabling chronic inflammatory skin disease that impacts sleep, social life, and psychological well-being. Concerns persist regarding regional disparities in healthcare access and the exclusion of the condition from certain essential levels of care. To address these issues, the sixth edition of the national awareness campaign, ‘Dalla parte della tua pelle’ (On your skin's side), is scheduled for October 10 to October 24, 2026. Promoted by SIDeMaST and supported by ANDea, the initiative aims to improve early diagnosis and promote correct management of the disease. This year, the campaign places a specific focus on adolescents aged 12 and older to address the impact on their quality of life and to combat online misinformation. The program offers free dermatological consultations at 21 university hospital centers across 17 Italian cities. Specific scheduled locations include AOU delle Marche in Ancona on October 15, and Policlinico G. Martino in Messina on October 17. In addition to these efforts, the Lazio region, sessions are scheduled at IFO Istituto Dermatologico San Gallicano, Gemelli IRCCS, Sapienza AOU Policlinico Umberto I, and ‘Diari atipici della dermatite atopica’ project has been launched to raise awareness.
