The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported a pattern of airstrikes targeting its medical supply warehouses in Ukraine. In early September 2026, an overnight aerial attack damaged a WHO facility in the Boryspil district of the Kyiv region. While no personnel were injured, the strike caused smoke and security concerns that initially restricted access to the site. Subsequent reporting indicates that three WHO warehouses have been affected by strikes within a three-month period. This includes a July strike in the Kyiv region and a series of attacks in August that completely destroyed a warehouse in Dnipro, which held equipment intended for approximately 225,000 people. On September 3, an airstrike destroyed a major WHO warehouse in the Kyiv region; while no staff were injured, the full extent of the medical supply loss is still being assessed. WHO representative Silviu Domente noted that these incidents are becoming a pattern, forcing staff to divert resources toward relocating supplies rather than healthcare delivery. According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), at least 20 attacks on humanitarian warehouses have occurred in Ukraine in 2026, with the WHO confirming that 15 of those specifically targeted medical supplies.
