Polish rally driver Miko Marczyk set a Guinness World Record for the longest distance traveled by a mass-produced electric vehicle on a single charge. Driving an Audi A6 Sportback e-tron Performance, Marczyk covered 1,338 kilometers (approximately 831 miles) without recharging. The journey lasted over 45 hours on public roads in Poland, traveling from Zakopane through cities including Kraków, Warsaw, and Gdańsk, eventually reaching the Hel Peninsula. To achieve this, Marczyk utilized hypermiling techniques, maintained an average speed of less than 30 kilometers per hour, and employed regenerative braking, particularly while navigating the Tatra mountain slopes. The test was conducted in ambient temperatures ranging from 7 to 15 degrees Celsius. This achievement surpassed the previous record of 1,205 kilometers held by a Lucid Air Grand Touring. The Audi used in the attempt features a 94.9 kWh battery, and the distance achieved exceeded the model’s official WLTP range of approximately 777 kilometers by roughly 72 percent. Detailed metrics from the attempt show an average energy consumption of just 7.09 kWh per 100 km, aided by the vehicle’s low aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.21.
