Austrian and German football match results

In early August 2026, various regional and professional football matches took place across Austria and Germany.

In Austrian regional leagues, Puch drew 3-3 after receiving a red card despite an initial 3-1 lead. Captain-coach Patrick Schober described the quick dismissal as a scandal, stating, “From three chances we made three goals. Puch is cold as a dog’s snout.” Additionally, SAK earned a 2-1 victory over Berndorf, while ATSV Salzburg opened their season with a 5-0 win over a newly promoted side.

In Germany, Eintracht Bamberg secured a 2-1 win over DJK Gebenbach with a goal in the final minute, despite Gebenbach creating numerous chances.

By August 8 and 9, attention shifted to higher divisions. SV Austria Salzburg won 4-1 against First Vienna FC 1894 to reach second place in the 2. Liga, though the club reported a broken hand for captain Florian Rieder. In the Austrian Bundesliga, FC Red Bull Salzburg and Wolfsberger AC ended in a 1-1 draw during the second round. Giacomo Vrioni scored for Wolfsberger AC in the 67th minute, but Yorbe Vertessen equalized for Salzburg in the 79th minute. Despite Salzburg dominating much of the match, Salzburg captain Nikolas Veratschnig expressed frustration over the team’s inability to convert chances. Both clubs currently hold four points after two matches.
