As autumn approaches, environmental changes lead to various biological and domestic shifts. Human health is impacted by decreasing light and temperature, which affects circadian rhythms, melatonin production, and sleep patterns. Dermatologists have noted that colder, drier air can disrupt the skin barrier, causing itching and dryness. Concurrently, the cooling weather influences home environments as rodents seek warmth and food indoors. Experts recommend that homeowners inspect and seal entry points, such as door frames, window seals, and gaps around pipes or cables, to prevent mice from entering. The transition to indoor-focused living also prompts a need for deep cleaning. Experts suggest focusing on items that accumulate dirt more easily during this period, including rugs, blankets, pillows, fireplaces, microwaves, coffee machines, and bathrooms. Additionally, the season coincides with an increase in spider sightings. Arachnologists clarify that this is not typically due to spiders entering buildings to escape the cold; rather, most indoor spiders are species already adapted to living inside. The rise in sightings is primarily attributed to adult male spiders wandering to find mates, with research indicating that a vast majority of indoor spiders—up to 82% in certain surveys—are males.
