Norway experienced a period of unseasonably warm temperatures due to the Foehn effect, with some regions seeing temperatures nearly 20 degrees Celsius above average. During this time, Southern and Eastern Norway were the warmest areas, while Western Norway faced wind and rain. As the season progressed, the country transitioned into more unstable autumn weather. Meteorologist Idunn Hana reported changing patterns, including stiff gales, rain, and thunderstorms in Western Norway, and potential freezing temperatures in mountain regions. While Southern and Eastern Norway saw occasional sunshine with temperatures between 15 and 18 degrees, the broader climate shift prompted a change in seasonal culinary trends in Oslo. During the first week of the autumn holidays, Southern Norway faced further variability. A yellow warning was issued for strong wind gusts, predicted to reach 25 to 28 meters per second, moving from Vestlandet north through Møre og Romsdal, Trøndelag, and Finnmark. Following these winds, an unseasonable return to summer-like conditions was expected. Meteorologist Eldbjørg Moxnes noted that some locations could exceed 20 degrees Celsius, with Bergen forecasted to reach 23 degrees Celsius. Despite these highs, the weather remains unstable with alternating periods of rain and sunshine. By early October, the weather shifted toward an unseasonably cold weekend marked by snow and frost. In Oslo and parts of Eastern Norway, snow fell in areas as low as 400 to 500 meters above sea level, leading to warnings for drivers regarding slippery conditions. Meteorologists at Yr predict a transition to milder but wetter weather following this cold spell, as three low-pressure systems are expected to bring rising temperatures and heavy rainfall, particularly affecting the West Coast.
