In early July 2026 Avezzano hosted the second edition of the Astra Sound Festival, a two‑day event that paired hip‑hop, rap and underground music with guided tours of local archaeological sites such as the Cunicoli di Claudio and the Alba Fucens ruins. Performances by DJ Gengis and rapper Ensi were complemented by yoga sessions in the Monte Salviano nature reserve and a range of food, illustration and tattoo stalls, highlighting the city’s blend of contemporary urban culture and historic heritage. Two weeks later, later the city opened the 29th Settimana Marsicana cultural festival.
