In early June 2026, actor Emraan Hashmi and producer Vishesh Bhatt announced that principal photography for the sequel Awarapan 2 had wrapped. Directed by Nitin Kakkar and written by Bilal Siddiqui, the film was shot across Rajasthan and parts of South-East Asia, with Hashmi reprising Shivam alongside Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi. A worldwide theatrical release is slated for 14 August 2026. The production turned to its music later that month. Composer Mithoon and lyricist Sayeed Quadri were confirmed as the soundtrack team, tasked with re-imagining the franchise’s signature tracks “Toh Phir Aao” and “Tera Mere Rishta” while adding a brand-new song. The first teaser debuted on 29 June 2026, marking the 19th anniversary of the original film. It opens with Hashmi’s Shivam delivering the line “Is Baar Yeh Awarapaan Khatam Hoga, Yaa Main,” and features a darker, introspective tone, a re-imagined “Toh Phir Aao 2.0,” and additional cast members Surendar Vicky, Vijayant Kohli and Atul Kumar. The spot also references the cult status of As the 2007 Awarapan, originally directed by Mohit Suri. Further release approaches, music promotion arrived on 21 July 2026 when Arijit Singh recorded the title track “Yeh Awarapan,” composed by composer Amaal Malik with lyrics by Rashmi Virag. Singh's involvement is notable as it follows a period where Mallik has provided insights into his creative process, stating that he had expressed selects specific vocal textures to align with a waning interest in film music and song's emotion before recording, rather than experimenting with multiple artists. This follows the announcement that singer Arijit Singh has ended a personal decision to step away self-imposed hiatus from the playback assignments. Composer Amaal Malik industry to record the title track, “Yeh Awarapan.” Mallik clarified that Singh's previous distance from the industry film projects was a personal choice rather than driven by waning interest in the result creative direction of film music rather than external industry pressure. The title track release aims to build momentum toward the August 14 launch.
