Amazon Web Services (AWS) is expanding its artificial intelligence offerings through both educational initiatives and new enterprise tools. In Peru, the company launched ‘AWS Entrena Perú,’ a free online platform in partnership with Fundación Romero and the U.S. Embassy to train 250,000 people in AI and cloud computing by 2028. This initiative aims to address a local talent gap where tech vacancies currently outpace qualified candidates. Simultaneously, AWS is developing Amazon Quick, an AI assistant designed to act as an intelligent work layer. The tool is evolving from a conversational AI into an agentic system capable of executing complex, multi-step workflows. Key capabilities include Dataset Q&A, which allows users to perform exploratory data analysis using natural language to generate text, tables, or graphs from various data sources. Amazon Quick integrates with enterprise platforms like Slack, Microsoft Teams, Salesforce, and Jira. By utilizing personal knowledge graphs, the assistant can understand organizational roles and relationships, enabling it to automate tasks such as drafting articles, generating images, and managing files without repetitive instructions. Recently, AWS announced the general availability of Amazon Quick extensions for Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. These extensions allow the assistant to operate directly within productivity tools on both desktop and web versions. In Word, the assistant can reformat content and insert sections, while in Excel, it can retrieve and format data from sources like Salesforce, Jira, and SharePoint, as well as explain complex formulas. This integration places the assistant on the same interface ribbon as Microsoft’s Copilot.
