In late July 2026, the original first‑generation Acura (Honda) NSX that belonged to three‑time Formula 1 champion Ayrton Senna was announced for auction. The vehicle is noted for its historic role in supercar development, as Senna provided technical feedback to refine the chassis and suspension, creating a benchmark that reportedly unsettled Ferrari engineers. RM Sotheby’s confirmed that a red 1991 Honda NSX, gifted to Senna and previously registered in Portugal, is scheduled for auction in London on 31 October. The car is one of only three NSX units given to Senna and carries an estimated value of 2.45–3.92 million zł (500–800k GBP). This auction follows a recent instance where a 2003 NSX-R, which had undergone a factory-approved restoration costing over ¥12 million, failed to attract a winning bid at an Italian auction despite a high estimate. Further highlighting the model's legacy, JAS Motorsport has unveiled a modern restomod of the first-generation NSX. Developed in collaboration with Honda and featuring design work by Pininfarina, the project utilizes a reconstructed carbon fiber body while retaining the original chassis and windshield. The upgraded vehicle features a 3.5-liter atmospheric V6 engine producing 425 hp and a six-speed manual transmission. New details regarding the Senna auction specify the vehicle is chassis number JHMNA11500T000233, featuring a black roof and black leather interior. The car was used by Senna at his Quinta do Lago property and was notably driven by him to the 1991 Portuguese Grand Prix at Estoril. His technical input during development reportedly led to a “50 percent increase in the car's structural stiffness.”
