The Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office initiated a criminal investigation into seven individuals residing in Turkey, issuing international search warrants for their arrest. Authorities allege these suspects used social media to incite religious radicalism and call for the forcible seizure of state power and the change of Azerbaijan's constitutional order. Following these legal actions, Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared 31 Turkish citizens ‘undesirable persons’, banning them from entering the country. The group includes politicians, journalists, academics, and religious figures. The Ministry cited remarks targeting Azerbaijan's sovereignty, national security, and leadership. Notable individuals named in the ban include Yeniden Refah Party leader Fatih Erbakan, DEM Party MP Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu, HÜDA PAR Vice President Yahya Uğraş, theologian Mehmet Boynukalın, and sports commentator Ahmet Çakar. The escalation follows disputes regarding Azerbaijan's school dress code regulations. In response to the tensions, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev held a telephone conversation to discuss bilateral relations.
