Lahore police are investigating the alleged gang rape of a 22-year-old Azerbaijani woman, identified as Diana, in the city’s Defence Housing Authority area. The victim reported being lured to a cafe and subsequently taken to a flat where she was administered an intoxicating substance and sexually assaulted. A medical report has confirmed the assault, noting physical injuries such as wounds on her knee and pressure marks on her shoulder, while indicating she was under the influence of drugs during the incident. In a judicial statement recorded under Section 164, Diana identified Mohsin, Ahmed, and Ali Aziz (also referred to as Ali Zain) as the perpetrators. She further alleged that Ali Aziz attempted to threaten and blackmail her. The victim stated she was taken to the apartment after meeting two local women, Namra and Muskan, at a cafe. Authorities have arrested Syed Mohsin Shah and Syed Ali Zain. A local magistrate has granted a six-day physical remand for the suspects to facilitate interrogation and DNA testing. Investigators are continuing to search for a third suspect, Ahmed. The victim also reported the theft of her handbag, which contained PKR 200,000 and two mobile phones. The case is being handled by the Defence C police station. Following the investigation, the victim, identified as Diana Baghiyeva, has departed Lahore for Baku under official police escort. Her departure occurred after she reportedly expressed reluctance to leave Pakistan, at one point refusing to board a flight and alleging she was being sent home under false pretenses. Authorities coordinated her return following requests from the Azerbaijani embassy. While Baghiyeva has left the country, law enforcement officials confirmed that her departure will not halt the prosecution. Forensic evidence, including DNA swabs, has been submitted to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency for analysis.
