Tourism in the Bahamas encompasses a range of luxury accommodations and specialized cruise experiences. Nassau serves as a primary hub, offering high-end resorts like The Ocean Club and various excursions such as snorkeling at Rose Island or wildlife encounters at Green Cay. Expanding on these land-based offerings, cruise lines are increasingly developing private island destinations to provide exclusive amenities. Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) is scheduled to open ‘Great Tides’, a large-scale water park Tides’ on September 4 at its private island, Great Stirrup Cay, featuring Cay. This nearly six-acre water park will feature a 170-foot ‘Tidal Tower’, industry-first water coasters called ‘Breakwater Blasters’, a dynamic river attraction, and a dedicated children’s area. This follows the established success of area named ‘Splash Cay’. Royal Caribbean’s ‘Perfect Day at CocoCay’, which has become CocoCay’ (also known as Little Stirrup Cay) remains a major global destination for the company. The 144-acre site offers a mix of party atmospheres and quiet beach areas, featuring overwater cabanas, waterslides, zip lining, and hot air balloon rides. While many food items and attractions are complimentary, certain high-adrenaline activities and excursions require additional fees. Other major cruise lines, including Carnival and Disney, also maintain private island operations in the Bahamas.
