In early August 2026, Baja California Sur’s state legislature announced the inaugural joint conference of local, federal and municipal legislators, scheduled for 7 August at the state legislative building. The forum, led by Mesa Directiva president Christian Fabrizio del Castillo Miranda, was created to coordinate a common agenda on issues such as environmental protection, public health and budget management, and is intended to meet twice yearly. Two days later, the conference convened in La Paz, where participants discussed concrete proposals. Key topics included lowering electricity tariffs for the state, enhancing protection and budgeting for the Sierra de la Laguna biosphere reserve, and reforms to the ISSSTE law. Deputies presented tax‑law reforms, and the mayor urged that municipal concerns be voiced at the federal level. Additional discussions covered water infrastructure, security, education and services for children with autism. The meeting aimed to establish a technical liaison group to monitor implementation of the agreed measures.
