The Bulgarian basketball team Balkan Botevgrad experienced contrasting results in late October 2026. In EuroCup competition, the team suffered a 57-64 home loss to Lithuania’s Lietkabelis, marking their fourth consecutive defeat in that tournament. Head coach Bogdan Karaichich noted that while the defense was effective, the team struggled with offensive rhythm and turnovers. However, the team found success in the National Basketball League (NBL) regular season. Balkan Botevgrad secured its fourth consecutive victory in the NBL with a 94-65 win against CSKA. Aleksandar Stoinemov led the scoring in that match with 19 points. In November 2026, Balkan Botevgrad traveled to Sarajevo to face KK Bosna BH Telecom for the sixth round of the EuroCup. Ahead of the match, Bosna coach Dario Gjergja described Balkan Botevgrad as a “well-balanced team that poses a significant threat.” Bosna President Nihad Selimović also appealed to local fans to increase attendance at the Zetra arena to help cover organizational costs. Balkan Botevgrad secured its first EuroCup victory by defeating Bosna Sarajevo 78:69. The win ended the team's losing streak, driven by a defensive performance that held the hosts to their lowest offensive output of the season. Javante McCoy led the scoring with 27 points, while Aleksandar Stoymenov added 22 points and Gaël Bonuya recorded a double-double. For Bosna, Reginald Perry scored 21 points. Despite the victory, Balkan Botevgrad sits in eighth place in Group D with a record of one win and five losses, trailing fourth-placed Ulm by two wins. The team is scheduled to host PAOK next.
