In late 2026, regional efforts to promote zero-emission mobility through financial incentives were highlighted in Croatia and Serbia. In Serbia, the government extended the deadline for electric vehicle subsidy applications to December 1, 2026, from an original deadline of September 30. The program, which allocated 170 million dinars, provides varying amounts based on vehicle category: 250 EUR for mopeds and light tricycles; 500 EUR for electric motorcycles, heavy tricycles, and quadricycles; and up to 5,000 EUR for new passenger electric cars or light commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tons. Eligible applicants include individuals, entrepreneurs, and legal entities. Applications are submitted electronically via the eUprava portal to the Ministry of Environmental Protection, with funds distributed based on the order of valid requests. In Croatia, the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund (FZOEU) launched a 20 million euro program aimed at supporting approximately 3,000 new vehicles. This initiative is specifically directed at individual citizens, excluding legal entities and craftsmen. Subsidies for electric passenger cars can reach up to 9,000 euros for vehicles costing up to 35,000 euros, while those priced between 35,000 and 62,500 euros are eligible for a maximum of 7,000 euros. In both cases, the subsidy is capped at 40 percent of the vehicle price; vehicles exceeding 62,500 euros are ineligible. Additionally, subsidies up to 2,500 euros are available for electric mopeds, motorcycles, tricycles, and quadricycles (categories L1-L7) if the price does not exceed 35,000 euros. Applications for the Croatian program begin on October 28 via the eFZOEU system. Eligibility is limited to one vehicle per person, and while financial leasing is permitted, operational leasing is not. Vehicles fully paid for before the public call is announced are ineligible.
