Balkan memorial football tournaments

In late July 2026, regional clubs gathered for two memorial tournaments: NK Travnik won the 31st Galib Mujčić Memorial in Vitez, Bosnia-Herzegovina, while Transporti Kegalj claimed the 32nd Mate Vučak Čigra futsal title in Cista Velika, Croatia. A week later, commemorations continued in Serbia with the fourth annual Davor Sabo youth memorial in Bački Gradište and a tournament in Lozna honoring former Sloga players.

By early August, the pattern of memorial and humanitarian sporting events expanded across the region. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the XXXI "Pomen na šehide" memorial tournament was scheduled to debut on a new artificial turf field in Gračanica, and the Čajniče Futsal Cup was announced with a 5,000 KM prize. Additionally, firefighters in Mostar organized a humanitarian futsal tournament to benefit "Kuća nade."

In Croatia, the Đura Škorić Memorial match was held in Nova Bukovica to honor a young player, while Zadar prepared for the 10th Antonio Jurjević Memorial-Humanitarian tournament. In Serbia, the Davor Sabo Memorial tournament in Bačko Gradište grew to include 22 teams.

These ongoing activities illustrate a consistent regional trend of using football, futsal, and other sporting events to preserve local heritage, provide humanitarian aid, and support youth athletic development across Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, and Serbia.
