The surge in road accidents and driving violations across the Balkans continued into mid-September 2026, marked by a spike in motorcycle fatalities and intensified enforcement. In Serbia, a series of accidents on 7 September resulted in four motorcyclist deaths within three hours. In Ljiga, two riders aged 31 and 46 died in a collision, while a 33-year-old passenger was seriously injured. In Temerin, a 17-year-old died after striking a concrete pillar; authorities noted the minor was operating the vehicle without a license, a helmet, or protective equipment. A third motorcyclist died in Sremska Mitrovica following a collision with a car. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that since the beginning of the year, 48 motorcyclists and three passengers have died in Serbia, an increase compared to the same period last year. On 8 September, a head-on collision between a car and a truck between Senta and Bogaraš killed an 80-year-old driver and a female passenger. New incidents reported in mid-September include the death of 68-year-old Ismeta Hukić in Novi Pazar, Serbia, following a collision with a truck. In Croatia, a 51-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured in Lišnica after hitting a metal fence, while sobriety checks in Karlovac led to 13 drivers being removed from traffic. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, a three-car collision in Čule left one person seriously injured, and Sarajevo police recorded 11 accidents in a single day, removing 22 drivers for driving under the influence. On 12 September, further fatalities were reported in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where a motorcyclist from Banja Luka died in a collision in Zalužani, and an Opel driver died in a two-car crash in the Rovine area. The same day also saw fatal accidents in Bosanska Gradiška. On 14 September, additional accidents occurred in Croatia and Slovenia. By 16 September, enforcement actions intensified.
