Following inconsistent preseason performances by second-year kicker Tyler Loop, the Baltimore Ravens have begun evaluating their kicking situation. Loop converted only five of eight field goal attempts during a preseason game against the Washington Commanders. In response to these struggles, head coach Jesse Minter indicated the team would seek new competition to ensure the best possible setup for the regular season. The Ravens subsequently signed veteran kicker Jake Moody to their practice squad to provide that competition. Moody brings experience from previous stints with the San Francisco 49ers, Chicago Bears, and Washington Commanders. As the team prepares for Week 1 against Indianapolis, Minter indicated that Loop is expected to start. The head coach noted that the addition of Moody has pushed Loop to perform better, stating that Loop “has not missed a kick since Moody joined the team.” While the organization remains focused on performance, the kicking role remains subject to change based on execution in high-pressure situations.
