Hospitals in the Bamberg district of Germany held a regional protest to advocate for the preservation of local healthcare services. During the demonstration, the Steigerwaldklinik Burgebrach and Juraklinik Scheßlitz symbolically closed their main entrances for one hour to highlight the financial strain on medical facilities. While main entrances were closed, patients and visitors were redirected to side entrances, and medical care remained fully operational throughout the event. The Gemeinnützige Krankenhausgesellschaft des Landkreises Bamberg (GKG) is urging the German federal government to stop the planned GKV-Beitragssatzstabilisierungsgesetz, claiming the legislation would jeopardize the financial stability of clinics. Protesters identified rising costs for personnel and materials, as well as heavy bureaucratic burdens, as critical issues. GKG Managing Director Udo Kunzmann emphasized the necessity of reliable financial and structural conditions to ensure dependable medical care in both urban and rural areas. The GKG is specifically demanding adequate financing, a reduction in bureaucracy, and reliable frameworks for the implementation of hospital reforms.
