Banco Popular Dominicano has expanded its educational and social impact initiatives in the Dominican Republic. Through its ‘Excelencia Popular’ program, the bank awarded 61 new university and technical scholarships to high-performing students with limited financial resources, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 694. Additionally, the bank’s free financial education platform, ‘Academia Finanzas con Propósito’, has surpassed 24,206 cumulative users. The academy reported a 13.46% increase in new users during early 2026 compared to the previous year. Data indicates the program has correlated with improved financial behaviors, including an 18% increase in the opening of emergency fund accounts among participants between January and July 2026. As of August 2026, the bank has extended its financial education strategy to minors, reaching 58,143 children across the country. This initiative utilizes interactive methods to teach saving, planning, and investment. Key components include the children’s book ‘Ahorrar es Crear’, written by Laura Vicens and illustrated by Karla Peña, which has seen 10,868 digital downloads and 18,000 printed copies distributed since March 2024. The bank recently distributed 1,000 copies of the book to families during the 2026 International Children's and Youth Book Fair. Further outreach includes 268 ‘Ahorrar nos hace bien’ talks and 14 storytelling sessions with Ciencia Divertida, the latter of which trained 25,641 children. Additionally, 3,634 children have graduated from the ‘Aventura Financiera’ interactive digital course hosted on the Finanzas con Propósito platform.
