HBO Max has announced the release of ‘Band of Brothers: Legacy’, a new documentary film scheduled to premiere on September 9 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the World War II miniseries. Directed by Chase Millsap and executive produced by Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, the documentary provides an intimate look at the production of the original series and its cultural impact. The film will feature new interviews with cast members, including Damian Lewis, Ron Livingston, Michael Cudlitz, David Schwimmer, and Capt. Dale Dye. Viewers can expect to see previously unseen archival footage, original photographs of Easy Company, and video diaries recorded during filming. To celebrate the milestone, HBO Max will also provide exclusive in-app extra content and a themed curation titled ‘In the Company of Heroes’. To mark the premiere, a special event was held at the Billy Wilder Theater in Los Angeles. The celebration featured an advance screening of the Playtone documentary and reunited several original cast members, such as Neal McDonough, Matthew Settle, Matthew Leitch, Richard Speight Jr., Peter Youngblood Hills, Kirk Acevedo, Eion Bailey, and Alex Sabga-Brady. The event also honored the real-world military service members of Easy Company, 506th Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division, whose experiences inspired the series. Attendees included veterans and representatives from the National WWII Museum, USAA, and UCLA ROTC programs. An exhibition was also held showcasing authentic memorabilia and archival costumes, including those used to portray Major Richard Winters and Sergeant Denver Randleman.
