In July 2026 Bandai Namco Entertainment used San Diego Comic‑Con to unveil the RG Project, linking the photorealistic action game *Gundam Rogue Orbit* with the companion anime *Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX‑ZERO*. Both titles are set in the newly minted “After Apocalypse” (A.A.) timeline, which began after humanity adopted three breakthrough technologies—gravity control, faster‑than‑light communication and cognitive materialisation—provided by an alien interstellar object that later mutated into the hostile, self‑replicating “Apocalypse”. The resulting crisis forced evacuation of Earth, marking A.A. 1. The anime, a pre‑quel set roughly a century after the initial conflict (A.A. 45), follows war‑orphan Ray Azumi piloting Gundam ZERO on the Moon; the game jumps another century ahead, starring RE‑X in Gundam Helix. Production is handled by SOLA Animation. Kenji Kamiyama directs and writes the series, with Toh Enjoe supervising the setting, Eiichi Shimizu designing the Gundam units, Minoko Takasu handling character designs, Miyako Takasu serving as supervising animation director, and Go Shiina composing the music. Voice work for Ray Azumi is provided by Takeo Ootsuka. Cross‑media promotion includes exclusive HG 1/144 Gunpla kits for Gundam Helix, a collector’s‑edition ARK‑10 variant, and a Gundam Card Game card, underscoring the integrated rollout planned for 2027 releases on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. At Summer Game Fest 2026 Bandai Namco announced that *Gundam Rogue Orbit* will launch in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam). Developers Yuya Tomiyama and Shinya Satake highlighted the game’s photorealistic graphics and fast‑paced combat, citing inspiration from *Armored Core VI* to attract players unfamiliar with Gundam. The title is positioned as the centerpiece of the RG Project and an entry point for a global audience.
