In late July, Bangladesh’s Meteorological Department warned of squally winds up to 60 km/h and heavy to very heavy rain across ten divisions, including Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal and Chattogram, and issued level‑1 alerts for river ports in the affected areas. By early August, the agency extended the forecast, indicating that rain and thunderstorms would persist through August 8 over a similar set of divisions and additional regions such as Rangpur and Rajshahi. The later warning highlighted heightened flood risk in northern and central river basins and placed more river ports under level‑1 alerts due to expected strong winds and heavy rain. On 4 August, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department issued a 120‑hour forecast for light to moderate rain and thundershowers across Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions from 5 August to 8 August, with moderate to heavy rainfall possible in many areas. Recent observations recorded up to 94 mm of rain in Srimangal and 88 mm in Sylhet. The India Meteorological Department simultaneously warned of heavy rain in West Bengal, affecting districts such as Purba and Paschim Medinipur, Kolkata, North and South 24 Parganas, Howrah, Jhargram, Purulia, Paschim Bardhaman and the sub‑Himalayan districts of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar and Cooch Behar.
