Bank Indonesia economic indicators and money supply
Overview
Bank Indonesia has reported various economic indicators throughout mid-2026. In July, the broad money supply (M2) grew by 8.3 percent year-on-year, reaching Rp10,371.1 trillion, supported by a 13.0 percent increase in credit distribution. During the first half of the year, the bank also noted a decline in counterfeit currency circulation, with the rate dropping to 1 ppm.
By August 2026, the Adjusted Monetary Base (M0) showed a 16.3 percent year-on-year increase, reaching Rp2,281.5 trillion. While this growth was slightly lower than the 17.1 percent recorded in July, it was driven by rising commercial bank deposits and currency in circulation. Additionally, the Real Sales Index saw a recovery in July with 1.1 percent growth following a contraction in June, though a slower growth rate of 0.5 percent was forecasted for August.
