In July 2026, BC Hockey announced a partnership between the newly formed British Columbia Hockey Conference (BCHC) and the Pacific Junior Hockey League (PJHL). The agreement creates a clear development pathway for players moving from U20 competition to Junior A, with the aim of improving exposure to higher levels such as the WHL, NCAA and college programs. The BCHC, now holding Junior A status, incorporates former KIJHL teams and will work with eight PJHL clubs that will operate as a provincial U20 development league under the Canadian Junior Hockey League umbrella. By early August 2026, the BCHC began implementing the new structure.
