Beach accessibility in Fuengirola
Overview
Fuengirola’s accessible beach facilities served nearly 8,000 users with physical or visual disabilities between June 1 and August 15. Mayor Ana Mula reported that 7,798 individuals utilized the town’s four specialized beach areas located at Castillo, Fuengirola, Los Boliches-Gaviotas, and Carvajal beaches.
Lifeguards provided assistance on 6,256 occasions, primarily helping users enter and exit the sea. The municipality, which has been a pioneer in accessibility within Andalusia since 2000, continues to improve services through partnerships with organizations such as Cota Cero and Aspaym. The coastline recently received a special mention from ADEAC, the organization behind the Blue Flag awards, for its high level of accessibility.
