Apple Corps has announced plans to relocate and expand ‘The Beatles Story’ museum to a new 9,300-square-meter site at the former St John’s Market in Liverpool by 2028. The new facility will be more than four times the size of the current Royal Albert Dock location, utilizing advanced technology, original artifacts, and reconstructed sets to create an immersive experience. Project details include recreations of iconic locations such as the Cavern Club, Abbey Road studios, and Shea Stadium, with some props sourced from upcoming biographical films by director Sam Mendes. Additionally, the St Johns Beacon is slated for renovation into a ‘Yellow Submarine’ inspired attraction featuring a 360-degree panoramic experience. In partnership with Universal Music Group, the initiative has received support from Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. McCartney noted the ‘enduring interest’ in the band’s history, while Starr expressed pride in the project’s potential to aid in the regeneration of Liverpool’s city center. The project also includes a humanitarian component, directing a portion of ticket proceeds to the Apple Corps Liverpool Trust to support young musicians and artists from the region. Recent updates confirm the attraction aims to provide an international-scale experience, tracing the band’s journey from their post-war childhoods through their formative years in Hamburg, Germany, to the height of Beatlemania.
