Beekeeping operations in the Yozgat region of Turkey show evidence of both large-scale migratory production and the professionalization of hobbyist ventures. In the Akdağmadeni district, Eyüp İnce manages a migratory operation of approximately 350 hives, moving from Samsun to the Bozok Plateau to produce between 5 and 6 tons of honeycomb honey annually. İnce has expanded his business from 45 hives by utilizing state supports, incentives, and credits. In the Sorgun district, Osman Özbek has transitioned from a hobbyist to a professional beekeeper. After starting ten years ago with three hives, his operation has grown to 250 hives. As a member of the Yozgat Beekeepers Association, Özbek has produced 100 queen bees to strengthen his colonies, with plans to expand to between 350 and 400 hives by the upcoming spring. Regional production is now being targeted for significant growth through the Yozgat Beekeeping Development Project. This collaborative initiative between the Yozgat Special Provincial Administration, the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, and the Yozgat Beekeepers Association has distributed 1,500 pollen-trap hives to 100 local beekeepers. The project has a total budget exceeding 4 million Turkish Liras, with a 50% subsidy shared between the Special Provincial Administration and participating farmers. Yozgat Governor Mehmet Ali Özkan stated that the goal is to increase annual production from the current 550-600 tons to 1,000 tons. Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Ömer Şentürk noted that the new pollen-trap hives are expected to provide an annual production increase of 20 to 25 tons.
