Officials in Bengaluru are focusing on accelerating urban development and infrastructure completion. Greater Bengaluru Authority Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao established a December deadline for projects funded by the National Disaster Mitigation Fund, noting that 55% of these works are currently finished. This includes road white-topping and stormwater drain development, alongside efforts to improve cleanliness near railway lands. Following these developments, Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda held a review meeting with the Greater Bengaluru Authority and city corporations. The Minister directed officials to expedite pothole repairs, waste management, and tax collection, emphasizing the need for administrative efficiency and prioritizing public interest in urban works. To further modernize administration, Minister Gowda launched ‘Nambike Nakshe 2.0’, a fully automated system designed to reduce building plan approval times from months to approximately 30 minutes. The pilot program targets eligible residential properties up to 50x80 sqft and utilizes a “Trust, but verify” model. Under this system, qualified architects submit plans online, and the system automatically issues approvals if they comply with town planning regulations, integrating e-Khata numbers to minimize human intervention and paperwork. In addition to administrative automation, Minister Gowda laid the foundation stone for a new Rs 75-crore government hospital in Bellahalli, Yelahanka taluk. The planned 125-bed, three-story facility is intended to address healthcare gaps in North Bengaluru, with future expansions aimed at increasing capacity to 250 beds. In a separate regulatory move, the Greater Bengaluru Authority informed the Karnataka High Court that nearly 50% of inspected paying guest (PG) accommodations in Bengaluru East are operating illegally. Out Recently, the Bengaluru East City Corporation ordered urgent maintenance to address rainwater stagnation and road damage. Additional Commissioner Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar directed the immediate removal of approximately 5,000 inspections in areas including Whitefield silt at the Panathur S-Cross railway underpass and Indiranagar, roughly 2,500 lacked proper licenses, sanctioned building plans, or fire safety clearances. the cleanup of the Munnekollal stormwater drain.
