Beyoncé released the ‘B’Day 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition’ on September 4 to commemorate the two-decade milestone of her sophomore album and coincide with her 45th birthday. The expanded digital reissue features 31 tracks, including previously unheard songs such as ‘Creole’, ‘Back Up’, ‘Lost Yo Mind’, ‘Can I Watch You’ featuring Pharrell Williams, and ‘My First Time’. Notable additions include ‘Cuerpo Tumbao (Get Me Bodied)’, a collaboration with Maluma that samples Celia Cruz’s ‘La Negra Tiene Tumbao’, and a version of ‘Irreplaceable’ featuring posthumous vocals from the late Selena Quintanilla. The track, titled ‘Irreemplazable (Como La Flor)’, is a mashup that blends the verses of Beyoncé’s ‘Irreplaceable’ with the melody of Selena’s classic ‘Como La Flor’. This collaboration was made possible with the authorization of the Quintanilla family and utilizes archival vocal recordings. Beyoncé has previously noted that Selena’s music influenced her during her childhood in Houston. The edition emphasizes Latin music influences with eight Spanish-language tracks and collaborations with artists such as Alejandro Fernández. The project also maintains the Shakira collaboration ‘Beautiful Liar’. Reflecting on the original album's creation, Beyoncé noted her intention to blend R&B melodies and harmonies with the growing influence of hip-hop through sampling. The release features remastered 4K visuals, including a revamped video for ‘Déjà Vu’ featuring Jay-Z. Following the release, the single ‘Morning Dew (Donk)’, produced by Beyoncé and Pharrell Williams, reached number one on the Adult R&B Airplay chart. Physical formats include a four-vinyl deluxe edition, a two-LP standard edition, and a CD. To celebrate the anniversary, fans gathered at the Baby’s All Right venue in Brooklyn. The event, featuring DJs Miss Milan and Byrell the Great, highlighted the album’s sonic evolution and its role in establishing the stylistic hallmarks of Beyoncé’s artistry.
