Since taking office in mid-June 2026, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has pursued an aggressive mix of law-and-order action and development programmes. Early moves included a crackdown on crime, the launch of the “Bihar Tech” portal, 100 fast-track courts, and a proposal for AI training for legislators. Infrastructure and tourism remain central, with initiatives including a heli-tourism scheme, a Buddhist meditation centre in Bodh Gaya, new greenfield airports in Bhagalpur and Munger, and a rapid-rail corridor connecting Patna and Muzaffarpur. Educational reform has expanded significantly. Following proposals to expand college hours and launch 200 new degree colleges, the administration has now announced the formation of a state-level education reform committee to improve teaching quality and a dedicated examination reform committee to review assessments. The government plans to integrate AI into evaluations to move away from rote learning and will host cooperation camps to facilitate direct dialogue between students and officials. In August 2026, the Chief Minister detailed further structural changes during a Patna workshop. These include the creation of a Special Committee for Quality Education to transform schools into centers of excellence and the establishment of Student Welfare Directorates. To enhance accountability, a dedicated online portal will allow students to register grievances; unresolved complaints will be escalated to the Chief Minister’s office via monthly special collaboration camps. Social and administrative efforts have also intensified. In August 2026, the Chief Minister inaugurated a conference in Patna focusing on the prevention and rehabilitation of human trafficking victims through the 'Naya Savera 3.0' campaign. Choudhary has linked industrial growth to crime prevention, noting that recent MoUs worth over ₹51,000 crore in the steel industry aim to provide local employment and reduce the economic migration that fuels trafficking risks. Administrative reforms continue to include granting Gram Panchayats taxation powers and establishing a State AI Centre of Excellence.
