Bitcoin-related ETF product launches

Overview

Financial institutions are launching new exchange-traded products (ETFs) to provide Bitcoin exposure through diverse strategies.

In Hong Kong, MicroBit Capital Management Limited introduced the MicroBit Bitcoin & Gold Value ETF on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. This fund combines Bitcoin and gold, offering both Hong Kong dollar and US dollar-denominated shares. It features support for in-kind subscriptions and redemptions in Bitcoin for eligible participants. CEO Wilson Fung described the product as a “bridge between traditional finance and the Web3 ecosystem.”

In the United States, Hedgeye Asset Management launched the Hedgeye Hedged Bitcoin ETF (HBIT) on the New York Stock Exchange. Rather than holding Bitcoin directly, the fund invests in U.S.-listed spot Bitcoin exchange-traded products. It employs a dynamic options overlay based on proprietary signals to manage volatility and downside risk, though the fund notes that these techniques may not always offset losses.
