The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has initiated a nationwide organizational restructuring through a series of key leadership appointments across various Indian states and Union Territories. Among the appointments, Smriti Irani was named the in-charge for both Chhattisgarh and Haryana, with Siddharth Shambhu serving as co-in-charge for Chhattisgarh. Other regional appointments include Tarun Chugh for Gujarat, Satish Poonia for Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir, and Sunil Bansal for Telangana. In Himachal Pradesh, Shrikant Sharma remains in-charge, supported by new Co-In-Charge Darshana Singh. The appointment of Irani in Chhattisgarh triggered immediate political friction. The BJP released a poster depicting Irani kicking Rahul Gandhi, while the Chhattisgarh Congress responded with social media posts mocking the BJP regarding sugar prices. While Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai welcomed the appointment, opposition figures raised criticisms based on Irani’s past political controversies. National President Nitin Nabin stated that these appointments aim to strengthen the organization and support the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’. A notable feature of this reshuffle is the increased representation of women, with 21 female leaders assigned responsibilities, accounting for approximately 33 percent of the new leadership roles. The new roles are designed to enhance political outreach, coordinate with state units, and strengthen the party's network from the booth level up to the state leadership.
