The anime adaptation of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War has officially concluded with the broadcast of the 50th episode, ‘DEATH & STRAWBERRY’. Produced by Studio Pierrot and based on Tite Kubo’s manga, the finale marks the end of a 22-year journey for the franchise that began in 2004. The series finale features a ten-year timeskip following the defeat of Yhwach. The narrative provides closure by revealing the characters' futures: Ichigo Kurosaki is married to Orihime Inoue and has a son, Kazui, while Rukia Kuchiki and Renji Abarai have a daughter, Ichika. Kazui is noted for possessing significant spiritual power, even managing to eliminate the final remnants of Yhwach’s lingering energy. Additionally, the episode depicts the reconstruction of the Soul Society, with Rukia serving as the Captain of the 13th Division and Renji serving as her Lieutenant. The final episode, ‘DEATH & STRAWBERRY’, received a 9.1/10 rating on IMDb. The title serves as a callback to the franchise’s origins, referencing the meanings of Rukia Kuchiki and Ichigo Kurosaki’s names. To commemorate the series' end, official channels released special videos, including a visual montage of Ichigo’s evolution and a final ending featuring the track ‘Number One’. This adaptation, which returned in 2022 after a decade-long hiatus, benefited from the direct supervision of Tite Kubo, allowing for the inclusion of previously unseen scenes. While the main adaptation has ended, the future of the franchise remains unconfirmed. Following the episode, a mysterious message, ‘The Stories of Brave’, appeared, which some community members interpret as a possible teaser for future content, such as the ‘Hell Arc’. Fans are looking toward Jump Festa 2027 and a special event in February 2027 for potential announcements.
