Various organizations in Italy are conducting community initiatives to promote voluntary blood donation and healthy lifestyles. FIDAS has utilized motorcycle rallies to raise awareness, such as the “Metti in moto il dono” initiative. In Sicily, the 2026 edition involves a route through the Etnean territory from Tremestieri Etneo to Paternò, involving the State Police Motorcycle Club. In Basilicata, a recent rally saw approximately 78 participants travel 130 km through towns including Calciano and Muro Lucano to emphasize solidarity and road safety. Simultaneously, Avis has organized events centered on physical activity. In Recanati, the 6th ‘Camminata Avis Pronti Sivà’ drew roughly 200 participants for a 7 km walk. In Fabriano, the 12th ‘Festa dello Sport’ combined sports demonstrations for families with efforts by volunteers to sensitize younger generations to the importance of blood donation. Efforts to promote civic responsibility and donation are also expanding through festivals and educational programs. The Piglio Blood Donor Group is scheduled to hold its 17th Blood Donor Festival on October 3, 2026, featuring an information booth on blood component donation, which is considered urgent due to rising oncological pathologies in pediatric patients. The group reported collecting approximately 7,327 vials of blood through 84 donations this year. Additionally, FIDAS has launched the eighth edition of the ‘A Scuola di Dono’ competition for the 2026/2027 school year. Targeting primary and secondary students, the contest uses creative projects like drawings, videos, or podcasts to encourage altruism and prepare students to become ambassadors of donation as they reach adulthood.
