Various organizations in Italy are conducting community initiatives to promote voluntary blood donation and healthy lifestyles. FIDAS has utilized motorcycle rallies, such as the “Metti in moto il dono” initiative, to raise awareness. In Sicily, the 2026 edition involves a route through the Etnean territory, while in Basilicata, a recent rally saw approximately 78 participants travel 130 km to emphasize solidarity. Simultaneously, Avis has organized events centered on physical activity and community engagement, including walks in Recanati and sports festivals in Fabriano. Recent efforts include blood collections in Davoli Marina and a twinning agreement between the Avis branches of Guidonia Montecelio and Vasto to combat chronic shortages. Newer initiatives have expanded into corporate and recognition-based sectors. In Priolo Gargallo, Avis collaborated with the ASP of Siracusa to launch a corporate social responsibility project at the ISAB Ludoil refinery, hosting educational meetings and medical checks for workers. Educational and artistic programs are also expanding. FIDAS launched the eighth edition of the ‘A Scuola di Dono’ competition for students, while the ‘Il Sentiero del Dono’ initiative combines walking with viewing ‘Murales della Solidarietà’ to promote community sharing. Additionally, the Piglio Blood Donor Group is hosting its 17th festival to focus on blood component donation for cancer patients. To honor long-term commitment, Avis has held several ceremonies. In Oggiona con Santo Stefano, the ‘Day of Giving’ recognized 41 donors with the ‘Cento volte Avis’ award for reaching 100 donations, alongside seven volunteers receiving the ‘VolontariAvis – Insieme si può’ award. In Viterbo, the fourth annual ceremony at Palazzo Gentili granted civic benevolence awards to 133 members for reaching significant donation milestones. During this event, the ‘Goccia d’oro’ was presented to President Alessandro Romoli for his support of volunteer values. Recent regional activities continue to strengthen these efforts.
