The BM Caserío handball club in Ciudad Real received 220,000 euros in municipal support from the City Council for the 2026-2027 season. This funding, which includes 200,000 euros in direct subsidies and 20,000 euros for advertising rights at the Quijote Arena, aims to support the club during its second consecutive season in the Liga ASOBAL. Following this financial backing, the club maintained an undefeated streak in the Liga ASOBAL with a 34-33 victory over Fraikin BM Granollers. The match, played at the Quijote Arena, was secured by a late goal from Jorge Maqueda with 14 seconds remaining, placing the team in fourth place in the standings. Despite a strong performance from Granollers' Marcos Fis, who scored nine goals, the local side secured the win. In recent league action, BM Caserío Ciudad Real has continued to maintain its undefeated streak following that narrow 34-33 win over BM Granollers.
