BMW Motorrad has announced several technological and product advancements for its M series motorcycles. In October 2026, the company introduced a third-generation M Motorsport aluminum frame for the BMW M 1000 RR, scheduled for the 2027 model year. This new structure is approximately 1.3 kg lighter than the previous version, utilizing reduced wall thicknesses to balance rigidity and flexibility for improved handling. Following this, BMW Motorrad unveiled the M 1000 RS at the EICMA show in Milan. Described as a hyper naked bike, the model features a 1.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 218 hp. The motorcycle includes high-end specifications such as carbon wheels and titanium exhaust. Production of the M 1000 RS will be limited to 1,000 units, with availability starting in March 2027. At the EICMA unveiling, the company characterized the M 1000 RS as the “most powerful hyper naked in the world.” Built on the M 1000 R platform, the model incorporates technology from the M 1000 RR superbike, including a 999cc liquid-cooled inline-four engine that provides 12 hp more than the standard M 1000 R. To improve the riding position, engineers increased the seat height by 20 mm and added the M rider footrest system. Other premium features include carbon winglets for aerodynamic downforce, an Alcantara-look seat, and a full titanium M exhaust system. The bike has a claimed unladen weight of 196 kg. In Germany, retail pricing is set at approximately €40,000. Technical specifications for the M 1000 RS indicate that while European models produce 218 hp, the US version is rated at 205 hp to comply with local noise regulations. The motorcycle is expected to reach a top speed of 283 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds.
