The 2026 Asian Para Games in Nagoya, Japan, feature competitive boccia events involving various international athletes. Prior to the games, India announced the selection of Sachin Chamaria for the BC3 Individual and Pairs events. Chamaria, a world-ranked 19th athlete and former gold medalist at the 2024 World Boccia Challenger, joined the national contingent following approval from the Sports Ministry. As competition commenced, Indonesian athletes achieved early success in the group stages. Handayani secured a 13-0 victory against Macao’s U Kei Tang in the women’s individual BC1 category, while Muhammad Bintang Satria defeated Uzbekistan’s Nizomiddin Khayariddinov 13-1 in the men’s individual BC2 category. The games officially commenced on October 18, featuring approximately 3,000 athletes from 45 nations competing under the motto ‘Imagine One Heart’. The Indian contingent includes 168 athletes and 113 officials participating in 11 disciplines. Although the Indian squad is smaller than the 303 athletes sent to the 2023 Hangzhou Games due to stricter quotas and the absence of disciplines such as para-rowing, the team aims to replicate its previous success. India has set a target of approximately 100 medals, building on its 111-medal performance from the 2023 Hangzhou Games. For the opening ceremony at the Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium, Pramod Bhagat and Simran Sharma served as India's flag-bearers. This selection allowed wheelchair athlete Bhavina Patel to rest before her scheduled quarterfinal match on October 19. The Indian delegation wore ‘Sekar Jagat Vijaya’ attire, a design by Ivan Gunawan combining Madura batik with modern jacket styles. By October 21, competition expanded significantly. In athletics, Iran’s Hajar Safarzadeh set a new Asian Para Games record in the women’s 400 meters T12 final with a time of 56.43 seconds. Medal tallies continued to rise across disciplines. As the games progressed toward October 26, host nation Japan achieved significant success.
