Boeing’s 2026 Commercial Market Outlook still projects demand for roughly 43,600 new aircraft through 2045, pushing the global fleet from about 28,000 today to over 50,000 – an 80 % rise. The mix is expected to be 33,500 single‑aisle jets, 7,700 wide‑bodies, 1,400 regional jets and 930 freighters, with half replacing older planes and half supporting expansion as passenger traffic grows ~4 % annually. Boeing notes an early‑2026 shortfall of about 2,000 aircraft, especially single‑aisle models, and a wide‑body gap into the early 2030s. Regional demand is led by China and Eurasia. Airbus has trimmed its 20‑year forecast to about 42,060 aircraft but still expects deliveries of 870 planes in 2026 – a 10 % increase over 2025 – and monthly A320 output of 70‑75 units by 2027. The July 2026 board raised the 2029 EBIT target to €12‑13 billion bn (from €7.13 billion bn in 2025) and approved a €5 billion bn three‑year share‑repurchase programme, lifting the share price over 7 % to €208. Airbus also said engine‑supply constraints should be resolved by 2028. In the first half of 2026 Airbus recorded a record order intake of 886 units (821 net) and a backlog of 9,222 aircraft, delivering 351 commercial jets (44 A220s, 271 A320 family) and posting €33.2 billion bn revenue, 15 % up in the commercial segment. Bombardier reported a $21.8 billion bn order backlog and 32 jet deliveries, signalling continued growth in the business‑jet market that complements the broader commercial‑aircraft expansion. Separately, International Airlines Group (IAG) posted a 21 % drop in first‑half net profit to €1.033 billion, bn, citing a €353 million m increase in fuel and emissions costs linked to the Middle‑East conflict. Despite a modest 1 % revenue rise, operating profit fell 14.4 %.
