Between January and July 2026, Bolivia’s beef and derivative exports reached a value of 121.16 million USD, representing a 3% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Despite this rise in value, the total export volume experienced a 24% decline, falling to approximately 21.23 million kilograms from 27.9 million kilograms the previous year. Data from the Instituto Boliviano de Comercio Exterior (IBCE), based on preliminary reports from the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE), indicates that China remains the primary market, accounting for 88% of the total export value with 106 million USD in sales. Other destinations include Ecuador, which received 8 million USD (6.8%), and Peru, which received 3 million USD (2.5%). Production is largely concentrated in the departments of Santa Cruz and Beni. Over the eleven-year period from 2015 to 2025, Bolivia accumulated 1.115 billion USD in beef and derivative exports. Domestically, the Confederation of Meat Workers of Bolivia (CONTRACABOL) has warned of economic losses resulting from rising prices and decreased local consumption. The organization noted that increased logistics and transport costs, partly driven by the removal of diesel subsidies, are impacting retailers and meat vendors.
