Bolivian university digital education initiatives

In late July 2026, Bolivia’s Universidad Central (UNICEN) introduced a digital simulation platform called “Formación Médica 360°” to modernize medical training. The program uses high‑technology clinical simulators and real‑case scenarios to give students early, hands‑on experience in a virtual environment, aiming to bridge theory and practice.

A few days later, UNICEN secured ministerial approval to launch a Bachelor of Innovation Digital and Artificial Intelligence. The new degree, offered on its main campus and satellite sites, will train professionals in data analysis, automation and emerging technologies, reflecting a broader push to equip graduates for the country’s digital transformation. Together, the two initiatives illustrate UNICEN’s rapid expansion from specialized medical simulation to a wider curriculum in digital and AI education.

The developments occur alongside Brazil’s University of Campinas (Unicamp) unveiling its own AI‑focused undergraduate program, highlighting a regional trend of public universities establishing new digital‑technology curricula to meet growing labor‑market demand.
