Bologna FC continues its squad transition under new head coach Raffaele Palladino, who was appointed following the dismissal of Domenico Tedesco. Tedesco reportedly managed only four matches before his departure and is nearing an agreement to return to the Bundesliga with Borussia Mönchengladbach. In Palladino’s managerial debut at the Dall’Ara stadium during the fifth matchday of the 2026/2027 Serie A season, Bologna played to a 1-1 draw against Torino. Federico Bernardeschi opened the scoring for Bologna in the 14th minute, but Torino equalized in the 77th minute via Sandro Kulenovic following an error by goalkeeper Skorupski. As the club enters ~~the~~ an international break, it faces a crisis, currently sitting in the relegation zone. To address this, management has granted Palladino “full autonomy” to manage the team’s mental and physical state without interference. The coach is utilizing this period to implement a high-intensity methodology and potentially reshape the squad into a 3-4-2-1 formation. A specific focus remains on goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski, as Palladino seeks to determine the level of trust moving forward following recent errors. Despite the difficult start, director Giovanni Sartori has reaffirmed his confidence in Palladino and the club’s long-term stability. Sartori also dismissed concerns regarding his own future and addressed recent squad changes, describing the departure of Johnny Rowe—who repeatedly requested a transfer—as a “disagreeable situation.” Fitness concerns persist: Jens Odgaard is expected to be sidelined for approximately four weeks with a right thigh flexor injury, while striker Artem Dovbyk is staying in Bologna to recover from muscle fatigue. Additionally, Emil Holm continues to manage his recovery from previous muscular injuries.
