The municipality of Bonito is advancing its sustainable tourism and environmental management strategies. Initially, local officials presented the region’s model to travel agents, highlighting initiatives such as the ‘Bonito +5’ strategic plan, the ‘Voucher Digital’ for activity control, and the Environmental Conservation Tax (TCA). The destination emphasized its status as a Carbon Neutral Destination and its progress toward becoming a Smart Tourism Destination. Building on these efforts, Bonito officially launched its Climate Action Plan 2025–2030 during the ABAV Expo 2026. This plan, part of the Bonito Ecocriativa Smartcity movement, focuses on climate change mitigation and adaptation. It aligns with the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism and supports the regional goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030 through energy transition and greenhouse gas emission management. The plan is supported by the Mato Grosso do Sul Tourism Foundation (Fundtur-MS).
